Patterns from the Fall 2012 RTW Shows: Chevron Stripes & Zig Zag

ON ZIG ZAG

Similar to the change in line-up of stripes, zig zag and chevron stripes this fall are diverging from previous points... Whether the zig zag arrangements maintained straight ups and downs or broke into jagged edges, the method of creating the pattern appears to come from the eyes of an artist - straight lines look like they've been painted with a medium-tipped brush, while jagged or frayed zig zags look as though they've been sketched with a pencil. As fashion & art continue to influence one another, keep in mind that literal representations of art look best as focal points, whether that center of focus is a Missoni printed dress or a Marc Jacobs chevron striped sweater - try each with a neutral accent one day, and a bright the next - the picks to pair with will simply enhance your initial bold choices.
