High/Low Looks in Fall's Must-Have Hues: Autumnal Pales

This fall we welcome the return of mauve, taupe, and powder pales - they're especially beautiful in a head-to-toe light look or as a contrast to the season's richer colors or neutrals.

Pieces, clockwise from top left: 3.1 Phillip Lim Sleeveless Dress – this dress would look smashing with either silver or gold pumps - both metallics will complement this dusty mauve; Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti Evening Dress – here a lavender heel would add a colorful feminine accent and still be appropriate for the office; Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti Long Boucle Coat – wear as the main look or over a dress - we love the idea of this coat with similarly-hued high-heeled suede boots; Emilio Pucci Patent-Leather Peacoat – use it as your rain slicker or a layering piece; Alexander McQueen Wool-Crepe Blazer – an instant classic in a seasonless hue; Stella McCartney Pastel Colorblock Knit Pullover – this looks great styled as is (with white skinny jeans) - and it would look equally cool with a white or camel pencil skirt; Yves Saint Laurent Tribtoo Hidden-Platform Pump – introduce a 'tough' element to wear with these pumps and add black or brown leather pants.

Pieces, clockwise from top left: H&M Dress in Powder Pink – tuck this bodycon dress into a flared skirt or wear with ladylike ballet flats; H&M Jacket – as most cropped jackets go, this one looks chicest when it's unzipped, under which a colorful or neutral top can peek out; Forever 21 Essential Ponte Longline Blazer – like the McQueen blazer above but can't afford it? look no further than the Forever 21 version! Zara Jumper with Side Slits – the fishermans sweater, including a slight tweak in color and detail to both feminize and contemporize it; H&M Coat – layer over the classic 'work' look - a white blouse tucked into a black pencil skirt with black patent leather pumps; Forever 21 Bow Platform Sling-Back Heels – a pair of cropped trousers would show off the feminine bow embellishment on this heel; Forever 21 Box Pleated Dress – we love how this was styled on the Forever 21 site, with a studded belt to add some rock n' roll to powder pink.
