  • Multicolor Story for a 'Pastry-Themed' Bridal Shower

Bridal showers are always fun, so dressing for this occasion should be much less stressful than dressing for its subsequent counterpart (the wedding!) and therefore demand more from your creative side... this is why we love the idea of a 'pastry theme' paired with a multicolor dress code!

DRESS OPTIONS (SO YOU CAN TOTE OUT YOUR SCOUT IN STYLE!): like spring, wedding season has sprung, so what better way to celebrate the multitude of colors currently set to re-style tree branches and gardens than by re-styling your wardrobe! Leave the patterns to Scout and shoes, this time, and opt for a bold hue when attending a 'pastry themed' bridal shower... your sophisticated edge will no doubt assert your 'spring siren' influences!

SHOE OPTIONS: thanks to creative minds behind the shoes designs of Betty Mueller, Manolo Blahnik and Kate Spade, you needn't look further than a nearby department store to try your most colorful and spring-inspired options... we suggest Barneys, Nieman Marcus, or Saks Fifth Avenue for crafty displays in a variety of color stories that showcase spring's heels, pumps, slingbacks, wedges, platforms, sandals and flats. In the shoes below, the key ingredient is smaller details, such as the bow on Mueller's kitten heel, the broach-effect on Blahnik's heel, or the stripes on Spade's pump.

FOOD 'NETWORKING' FOR THE GOODIE BAG: we find that one of the most fun parts about being a guest at a ladies luncheon (in this case, a bridal shower) is seeing what your hosts or hostesses have picked for you to tote out the door. Perhaps they'll use Scout's Goodie Bag in multicolor pattern 'LSDaisley', and gift you with pastry's chief resident, the cupcake! We love Ina Garten's Barefoot Contessa Cupcake Mix, as well as NY Cake's decorative dresser-uppers, including your very own diamond ring topper and vibrant hues in sanding sugars. The standing ovation for this goodie bag idea goes to a cake stand from Fish's Eddy, in a sleek design that will continue to support your sweet tooth!

  • Navy & White for a Destination Wedding

For a destination wedding, we love the idea of a navy, white and red color story, all the way from your dress to the bride & groom's guests!

DRESS OPTIONS: inspiration for these weddings stems from the 'New England beach wedding', with red, white and blue as an increasingly popular color story for summer weddings. We love patterns that range from classic to geometric to texturally inspired, from ikats to simple dots and stripes. Solid, navy, or red are dramatic yet classic... we recommend you avoid white, however, since the bride will be carrying that theme.

SHOE OPTIONS: we love platforms and ultra-high heels to add a little sex appeal to a classic dress choice. The Mary Jane is refreshingly updated in cherry red, while a burnished metallic silver with a coral accent works with day-to-evening ensembles, and the blue and wood platform heel is cleverly detailed with a graphic navy & white 'scarf' for the ankle.

GOODIE BAG OPTION #1, THE 'JUST CHECKING IN': we think your out-of-town guests will find their 'by the sea' goodie bag irresistible and terribly useful. Mix treats with unique destination accessories for the most inviting wedding 'booty bag' ever!

GOODIE BAG OPTION #2, THE 'OFF TO THE BEACH': you never can tell how you'll wake up feeling the morning after wedding events, so we've designed the perfect 'get your groove back' health bag... a little medicine and a little sun goes a long way towards restoring youthful glow!

  • Color Stories to Go with Wedding Stories

There’s buzz in the air about the Royal wedding about to happen in London… and buss about your friends’ weddings! Let’s toast one another in anticipation of the official 'wedding season', spring/summer!

For many of us, the first signs of spring bring stacks of party invitations and spring/summer wedding invites… the dilemma? What to wear! This week we’d like to focus on great ideas and tips for how to dress yourself for all kinds of weddings, beginning with the most opulent and luxurious, silver and gold-themed weddings… perhaps taking place in the evening, in a rareified ballroom… do you wear long or short? Tuxedos or a white tie and tails make dressing for a guy a piece of cake, but for girls, finding just the right ensemble can be daunting. We recommend these irresistible choices for the most scintillating of spectacles, as well as gift ideas to tote to the reception!

DRESS OPTIONS: it's clear that an a-line shape on the skirt of your dress translates through silk, chiffon, and lace, so stick with a classic frame while pulling ideas from your contemporary style... beaded detail, a slinky belt, or a corseted bodice reminds you and the guests that you're there to have fun!

SHOE OPTIONS: with a metallic dress, it's best to keep the shoes in line with your color story (it's more formal this way), but we still suggest trying to find color where you can! ...instead of a simply silver or gold shoe, we've decided to break out in form and in hue; as you can see in the slingback at left and the platform at right, blush tones appear to have been brushed with a metallic sheen.

BAG & GIFT OPTIONS: for a silver-and-gold theme, choose Scout's Mini Deano in Priscilla Paisley and our Original Deano in French Twist Gold. For the perfect gifts to tote inside, opt for luxury and comfort in the home... one idea that we love is folding up a Mongolian Fur Throw from Adrienne Landau in the Mini, then placing two Neheva Pillows in the Original; the other idea we love involves two of our go-to designers for gifts of any occasion, Jonathan Adler and John Derian! ...from Adler, wrap up one of his Charade picture frames and stick into the Mini; from Derian, we love his 'Home Sweet Home' decoupage tray, or his 'Faience Cherubs' plate.
